It's been a long while!

I am happy.

Is everything perfect? Well, it never is. But it's always better than it has been, which is the most I will ever hope for and what I am entirely grateful for.

Here is the list of things I have been working on:

- I founded a zine collective, Stumptown Underground, and we're publishing monthly anothologies of writing, comics, illustrations, etc. We've actually been doing it monthly. It's killing me and keeping me alive, both at the same time. Working on it has been totally fucking inspiring. I am seeing the best of all creative people I know and I can't help but be forced to remember how beautiful life is.

- Planning for PZS is already going on and I am organizing again.

- I started an event with Los Moustachios called Movie-A-Roke, which has been a laugh.

- Myself.
sweaters for real
For months now, on an alarmingly escalating basis, I've been dumping time into organizing the Portland Zine Symposium.

I field all the emails, manually confirm all the tablers, recruited the talented John C. Worsley to take over our website and worked with him on maintaining it, have attended all but two of the meetings (I missed being at two in person, but I was at one of those via speaker phone), have handled the corn mug ordering process, am working with the screen printer for the shirts for this year, maintain the facebook page, and I've booked us an awesome wrap up party.

And it's all about to come to fruitition, friends. PZS is August 23rd and 24th.. )

I hope to see you there.

In other news, we still need volunteers to help out before/during/after PZS, which you can read more about here.

i feel the need to sit here and write to you all about the good...

my new housemate, ana, is very awesome. i liked all of the housemates i had in the mississippi house, still talk to them and would regard them as friends and i feel we all moved out of the house mostly because the house was just too cold and dingy and it's charming "character" could no longer compensate for that. so i really liked them and we got along, but ana and i have really clicked. she's come to art stuff at the gallery, i've gone with her to see tilly and the wall, we've gone drinking together and we've done plenty of sitting around the house listening to npr in the living room while each doing our own thing (like most of today). we seem to have the same boundaries about sharing things in the house, we both dote over the cats, communication has been open and honest as we're getting to know how to live each other and about each other.

speaking of open and honest communication, i went to vita cafe cheap night (wednesdays) with my friend michelle last night and it was really nice. we just had this extensive conversation that left me feeling like, "wow, i am really glad michelle feels ok opening up to me about all that and that i have another honest person in my life." there's a sincerity and maturity to michelle that i really respect, that i felt a hint of one of the first times i met her at vegfest a couple years ago. when other friends let me down, it's nice to have friends like michelle come in and offer a breath of fresh air. i would lump her in with friends like bria, mikey and others... people who can call you on your bullshit or put aside themselves to help you in a real struggle or people who can see their own fallibility and therefore accept yours and make up with you if you make a mistake or if they just don't approve of something you're up to.

the gallery! oh god, i am so happy with the sequential art gallery work that i've been doing. i co-curated two shows, let them eat seppucake! and in the name of: a roadside memorial series. both months' artists, kirk alexander and shell frogge, were so easy to work with and just so nice. also, the shows were so different from each other, that i learned so much!

my nannying job is so amazing. the parents i work for continuously reinforce my ideas of how awesome they are. catcher is the sweetest little boy, so laid back and so smart.

i am also loving being an organizer for portland zine symposium 2008. speaking of zines, i've got to get off to meet chris for dinner and go to a reading at powell's that alex is in.

it's easy to complain and go on and on about all the little and sometimes big things that go wrong in my daily life on the internet, to turn my livejournal to a bitch rag, which is something i really don't won't to happen. while i think it's important for me to write about my problems and share struggles so that my friends on livejournal can have opportunities to relate, to support and to feel less isolated in their own problems, i also feel it's important to share the good, the positive, the hope.
